SCHOOL FOR THOUGHT
Surely they have better things to do with their time?
The Tedious Board has a draft document on its website entitled "Gender-Based Violence Prevention". It is "meant to be a complement to the TDSB's Gender Equity Resource Guide, Rainbows and Triangles: A Curriculum Document for Challenging Homophobia and Heterosexism in the K - 6 Classroom, Anti-Homophobia Education Resource Guide and online materials available at http://www.tdsb.on.ca/EQUITY and www.tdsb.on.ca/GBVP".
You might be surprised (I was) by the emphasis on black homosexuals (starting page 89). It is apparently quite important to someone at the Tedious Board that we acknowledge the many gay blacks who made significant contributions - so important that George Washington Carver is included on the list, even though there is no evidence that he was gay.
Perhaps we will learn more about Mr. Carver's sexual orientation, along with many other gay blacks (there's a list), in February - which apparently is to be designated Queering Black History Month. H/T Chas
