School for Thought Celebrates Our First Year!

School for Thought Celebrates Our First Year!
May 28, 2010 by .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) at 08:35 AM

School for Thought is one year old today.  When we began, we imagined that we would have difficulty coming up with ideas to blog about, but there have been many topics and debates on almost every aspect of education.  Some of them have been very informative and helpful, others have been rather lively!

At SQE, we hope you keep coming back for what is sure to be an interesting if not challenging time for education.  School For Thought welcomes your "thoughts" as we go forward.

Thank you!  Happy Birthday.
As I’ve said many times, I’ve learned, and sometimes reality bites, but as the saying goes, ‘you’re armed with knowledge’.
Sisu to everyone SQE and all bloggers.

Thank You to the only organization in Canada that has the courage to expose the truth!Happy Birthday-Great Work!!!

I echo the above thank-yous!

Given all the folks fighting to maintain the same old status quo; unions, self-styled “parent activists”, self-serving politicians, etc I find it refreshing to find folks suggesting there are other options.  Going against “the system” must be aggravating but its also the only way things ever change.

Truthspeaking is SQE’s Forte

“The truth will set you free, but first it will make you miserable.”  ~Attributed to James A. Garfield

I must say that this blog is a national asset.  There have been some wonderful conversations here that, I am certain, have considerably advanced the cause of education reform in Canada.

SQE posts do help the consumer keep up to date which is such a welcome relief when faced with all these “experts” in the field with all their sophisticated intelligence-gathering resources and their saying: “Done that, been there!”

As a grandparent I thought I had retired from education activism long ago.  I was so, SO relieved, because living with all these put-downs and put-offs was really a pain.

But, things have not improved much for the grandchildren since my day, so here I am.  Blogging here and elsewhere has really given me greater confidence and resolve and I’m sure I’m much more effective in my critiques and efforts as a result.

Thanks, SQE, and I was so pleased to go back to your first post and find these lovely encouraging words:

“One of our main strategies is to empower parents, grandparents, and teachers by arming them with proven teaching methods and materials.

As part of this effort, our blog will provide readers with solid information about good education - and lots of it - in a very readable and entertaining format.”

You’ve lived up to your aims—in spades!  Thanks for being there.
