Here's a quickie video that lays out both points of view as to who is in the best position to make decisions about kids' futures.

Of the faces claiming educators know better than parents - the full video of this educrat conversation at the Michigan House Education Committee .

I had visions dancing in my head, a reel of film showing why choice is a must. Even when it is as obvious as a wart on the tip of the nose, the educrats found throughout the education stakeholders, will ignore the child’s learning needs and blame the parents.

Just in the pass month, the educrats lost another major court case in the U.S. If the public school don’t want to provide, let the private schools do the job, and perhaps it would not be costing this American school board, laying out $8000 or so per month for an out of state school.

“A Colorado school district must reimburse the parents of a student with learning disabilities as well as emotional and behavioral difficulties for the costs of the student’s enrollment at an out-of-state residential treatment facility, a federal appeals court has ruled.”

In the comment section - typical response from an educrat/educator ” I had a sped student who was doing fine in my class (a lower level English class but still mainstream) and in most of her other classes. Her parents wanted her to have a residential placement and brought their own specialists to meetings. The school district finally agreed to a day out-of-district placement for her because they were so afraid of getting sued. “

First sin - calling SPED student
Second sin - lower level but still mainstream (translation- dumb down curriculum)
Third sin - avoiding the reasons why parents brought in their own specialists - the kid had low levels in the 3 Rs. The 3 Rs that the public education avoids at all costs.

A Canadian article - “I’m talking about educrats, bureaucrats with a doctorate in doctoring our children’s education. Indoctrinating them with their agenda. We’ve brought you so many ridiculous examples of school administrators and teachers interfering in our children’s lives. But when they start slamming Dr. Seuss, it may just be the last straw.”

The above, hails from LaLa land - The BC education system that brought the Moores to the Supreme Court of Canada. The same educrats with their fancy PHDs in education, that told the Supreme Court why 50 percent of students never reach grade level reading. I supposed sometime in 2013, the busy eager educrats with PHDs, will present a new theory why 50 % of kids never reached average levels in reading, and what to do about it.

More dumb-down work for them, and of course no Dr. Seuss books….

On the Parents Know Best site - should be a couple in Canada to get the educrats in a real snit, and present the hard evidence that the educrats will avoid at all costs.

“Across the country, parents are being attacked for demanding more and better educational options for their children. Special interests and bureaucrats think they can make better decisions for children than their parents. But who really has the best interest of each individual child at heart? Who understands when a child’s needs aren’t being met at school? Despite what special interests and bureaucrats may think, you know the truth: Parents DO KNOW BEST. And it’s time we help parents fight back.

Take a stand against special interests, bureaucrats, and even politicians who are fighting to deny parents the opportunity to choose the best school for their child. Together, with parents across the country, we can ensure that all children attend the school that best fits their needs.”

I forgot one article from Welland - funny and amusing, mocking the educrats.

Canadian Parents Want In

Parents in Canada suffer the same oppression as demonstrated in this video, “Parents Know Best” from American Federation for Children — The Nation’s Voice for School Choice.

I’ve just signed up to this website to keep informed, and thanks for the story, SQE.

What to do?  Canadian parents also need to be involved in “de-oppressing” ourselves.  Join a big organized group such as the US group?  Start our own “organized” group?  Write a book?  An American “manual” is even now being written to strengthen the “anti-reform” movements, due in October 2013!

I suggest to at least see this 2006 video, “Stupid in America” by John Stossel.

What has happened in the last six years since that video?  I’ve seen it dozens of times and each time the despair and helplessness overwhelms me.  So obvious, yet, why can’t logical improvements flow?  Why can’t “rational” people make self-evident reforms?  Have we changed from the self-actualizing, self-sufficient people our pioneer grand folks were?

HAVE WE BEEN CHANGED, culturally, somehow, to put up with this oppression in our so-called democratic countries?
