York Board’s Anti-Bullying Policies Aren’t Being Applied - To Students or to Staff

This post from a blog called Mind Bending Politics shows just how far educators can stray from being loving caretakers when they are part of a dysfunctional system. I'm guessing that if these same educators were operating in, say, a private school that had wooed its students and was anxious to keep them, the educators would be handling this situation far differently.

Years ago Corina Morrison and I had a meeting with an Ontario Ministry of Education representative.  Based on Dr. Deming’s mantra of “if you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it”, we asked what steps were being taken with respect to tracking and data on the issue of bullying in schools.  The response we received was that it would be “too costly”.

Last July I wrote a post about a FOI request on the issue of student safety.  https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/ontario-ministry-education-karen-sebben?trk=pulse_spock-articles

In my mind, the discretion left to our school boards as it relates to funds ear marked for student safety are wasted tax dollars.  To those who are providing these tax dollars, well they should have the right to request their return in order to school their children in a more appropriate environment.
