What is really surprising is that the operator did not have the command of the English language, to spell the beginning parts of euc, of eucalyptus. I can understand why a person who has a crisis, may forget their spelling of their street, and where eucalyptus is not a garden variety street name, nor in everyday language. So he opted for Oak, to get the ambulance there quickly.
What I have observed are people who work in government agencies as clerks filling out paper work, asking the person how to spell garden variety first names. Apparently Nancy is a name that confuses a lot of people. When I do asked them why, the lame excuses are used, to covered up the poor spelling skills of the clerks.
Now, marrying a good speller may indeed come in handy when under a emergency, but I would be hard press to spell out words like eucalyptus, when my mind is only focus on getting that ambulance and only that ambulance. Even the best spellers, may stumbled too, under emergency events.
