Who will guard the guardians?

Ben Levin, former deputy minister of minister for Ontario, has pleaded guilty to child pornography charges. more

Although Levin was in charge of the Ministry of Education during much  of the time that the province's new sex education curriculum was being formulated, the Premier says Levin didn't have a hand in it.

It is impossible to know if this is true, because who knows what activities Levin's sick mind could have led him to, but in a way it's not really relevant. Rather, Levin's behaviour reflects a culture, a way of thinking, at the miinistry, whereby ministry officials are more enlightened than ordinary people and know what's best. As a result, these education bureaucrats are (in their minds) justified in imposing their opinions and beliefs on lesser mortals.

Further, it's quite possible that this arrogant attitude extends as far as the Premier's office.

I think that Ben Levin is a psychopath.  For me, when reading the cited article, what gave him away, was the fact that his remorse seemed soft-peddled, and from his statement it appeared that in his mind it carried the same weight as losing his so-called illustrious career. This told me that he doesn’t really feel concerned with the fact that he’s been party to ruining innocent children’s lives (many will spend the rest of their lives on drugs and loathing themselves because of people like him).
Psychopaths are also very charming people, which has been said about Levin by people who personally know him.

The sex curricula which he most likely had a hand in penning, has a lot of parents and taxpayers very upset.  On blogs people are saying that pedophiles are trying to groom our children (via this new explicit sex curricula).  On reading these blogs, I thought these statements written by some bloggers edged toward hysteria.  Now I have to wonder…

I can’t make a firm decision as to whether or not this curricula is right for students and/or age appropriate, but one thing that I find troublesome is that it will teach six-year-olds about consent!  Does this mean that a young child should be making a decision about whether or not to have sex?  Isn’t it our job to protect children; not to tell them it’s their choice?  Even if I misunderstand, how would a six-year-old being taught this interpret ‘giving consent’?  Is it possible that this is a ‘grooming’ tactic?

Frankly, with the terrible job this government has done writing other curricula—it’s obviously not written to educate our children—how can I trust them to write a sex ed curricula that would be healthy for our children?

The arrogance of our present government is staggering.  Of course one of their weapons is name-calling.  Because I’m skeptical of the new sex curricula, according to Premier Kathleen Wynne, I’m a homophobic.

I suppose that I could have phrased the second last paragraph more clearly:

What I was saying is that the terrible job the government in Ontario has in writing curricula for K—8 students tells me that their goal is not to educate our children—they obviously have another agenda.  Because they’re putting their agenda ahead of the education of our children, I can’t be completely convinced that they are writing the sex education curricula with our children’s best interests at heart.

OT:  I wish that when writing curricula that the civil servants would consult with experts in the fields rather than all of these people who have degrees in the arts and humanities, and B ed’s.  Benjamin Levin either has degrees in the arts or the humanities; yet he was responsible for the curricula written for Ontario students, and called an expert.  How can someone with no expertise, especially in the maths and sciences, be considered an expert?

The sex education curriculum is absolutely not written with children’s best interests at heart.  It’s not in children’s best interests to introduce sexual consent when it is against the law under section 152 of the Criminal Code for anyone to “invite, counsel or incite a person under the age of 16” to sexual touching – that includes inviting a minor to touch him or herself.  Where does that leave the discussion of masturbation in grade 6?  Who is directing these conversations, what are their qualifications, what resources are they using?  So many questions, from such an unaccountable government, for such a sensitive topic that is best left to parents.

If I’ve learned anything from my teacher-friends in elementary school, NONE of them are teaching in their qualified area of study.  My STEM friend teaches gym and English (she admits to hating and not understanding literary theory); her English-qualified colleague teaches STEM (and hates it).  And so on.  It’s a mess in the basics of English and math, but we think that introducing gender theory and sexual fluidity is a done deal.

Home schooling is growing in my area by leaps and bounds.  Parents are fed up.  We’ve got a great co-op going with like-minded parents who are sharing resources and expertise.  I think we’ll see more of this happening next year as the curriculum madness continues.

There is no question that child deviant Ben Levin had a hand in the sex ed. curriculum.

We have a handful of morally bankrupt educrats in Toronto forcing their sexual propaganda on the rest of Ontario with the support of unions while parents sit in the dark because the mainstream media supports the liberals program.

We need big changes in education choices.
