I couldn’t agree more. I voted for the libertarian party during the last provincial election.
I would not entirely place my faith in the free market. Who will oversee them? What I like to see, is free movement of parents having the power to oversee their children’s education in a framework of providing alternative choices including the public option. It would keep everybody honest and focus on education quality of the students. In the end, it results in all students having the skills, the abilities and knowledge framework to navigate in the adult world of the 21st century. More importantly to reach each and every child’s potential….......so bring on a full plate of options and not just one form, and leave the market sort it out.
A free market would be far better than what we currently have. Schools would be forced to provide the best because of competition. Competition can only happen in a free market. I remember it well from when I lived in Singapore and Tokyo. There, it was actually hard to choose a school because all of the schools were excellent—this was because it was the schools had no choice but to deliver because the power to shop for a better school if need be was in the hands of the parents.
Here in NA, we’ve had it so bad for so many years that we don’t even remember what a good education was like; however when voucher and charter systems begin to take hold in NA parents will get wiser and begin to gravitate towards schools that are offering a better education for their students; hence competition will create education excellence.
