Here's the ever-fascinating Malcolm Gladwell with a talk about spaghetti sauce that has profound implications for school choice.

Thank You Malkin.

Brilliant !

So many of the worlds major problems remain because of an unwillingness to accept and adopt these principles.  There is NO one size that fits all !  The one size fits all approach is in the rear view mirror if one wants to move towards a happier world.

Most of the endless wars, struggles and political disputes of humanity are centered on the premise that somebody else’s size should fit you. In the world of modern physics and edge understanding of how things work, variability and clustering is the path to superior insights and results.  Is it any wonder why the results of democratic elections in jurisdictions where we do not have a pluralistic number of parties are crude and gross reflections of the populations wishes. Finding the right sauce may ultimately prove to be humanities greatest challenge to survive.

This puts the endless and tedious arguments of “either or” into the bin where they belong. Those who appose choice are supporters of a rigid historic order which has little place in a modern world. The challenge of the union movement is to make their choice one that will attract the majority of the users who they believe want it. Great !  But don’t condemn the significant minority to having to live with this choice if they don’t want it.  Once this principle is entrenched, then the natural processes take over and we will see how many folks like chunky or plain.
