Sunday at the Movies (Doretta Wilson - Superstar)

March 06, 2011 by .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) at 09:50 AM

Here’s a 32-minute clip of Doretta Wilson on TVO’s The Agenda. In watching this, your assignment is to figure out what’s going on in Annie Kidder’s head as she expresses doubt about whether we should allow the proliferation of alternative schools. Bear in mind that Annie sends her own daughter to one such school (one of the “artsy ones”, FYI, that she dismissively mentions).

If the clip won’t play for you, go to tvo.org/cfmx/tvoorg/theagenda, and click on An Education for All.

I remember all of what you ‘ve asked everyone to watch.  What happened, when Annie was presented with facts (I believe thanks to Doretta), was that she had to back-track.  I have to say that she deftly, and dismissed the fact that her children were in ‘specialized artsy’ schools supported by public education (taxpayers—even the ‘poor’ ones).
The engine on her plain is starting to sputter— sooner or later she’s going to go down in flames, and in a few years away from her crash, she’ll be a faded memory, so why worry about her at all? grin
