Just like so many politicians, (i.e.: Premier Kathleen Wynne) this mayor is in bed with the teachers’ unions.
Another comment: it broke my heart to hear Alise’s stutter get much worse when she learned that her excellent charter school was closing.
Way to go you heartless politicians and unions!
Teachers aren’t threatened by charter schools, they have iron-clad contracts. And it’s not about teacher wages or working conditions, which aren’t affected by charter schools.
Fewer public teachers means less revenue and less power for the unions. The mayor is simply rewarding his union buddies, who generously spent teacher’s dues to get him elected. Blech.
The teachers’ unions backed a different candidate. They are more than willing to help rid the city of charters, this useless distraction on the road to excellence.
