No Excuse for Bullies

August 25, 2009 by .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) at 08:15 AM

This article in today's The Globe and Mail profiles two moms' radically-different approaches to helping their bullied children. In fact, bullying is a huge problem in Canadian schools, as the Society for Quality Education learned when it sponsored a study of the reasons parents withdraw their children from publicly-funded schools. However, there is no reason why schools should be hotbeds of bullying. The Society's alphabetical newsletter archives (under the heading "Bullying") have several articles that contain information about good programs that schools can use to nip bulllying in the bud.

I believe punishment by parents and the school is not harsh enough.  It parents are not prepared to correct the problem…... take them to court

parents are the first teachers of a child and should be held accountable.  our ’ new ’ society is very lax and expects the school to do it all.  It can’t!
