University is not for everyone

This column in today's Globe and Mail addresses the education mismatch in Canada. Because so many kids are encouraged to go to university, we have too few skilled workers and a lot of university graduates who can't find jobs. An additional problem, which the column doesn't mention, is that it has made it impossible for universities to dedicate themselves to purely intellectual pursuits. H/T JE
