Keep your eye on Louisiana

Unrelated to today’s blog, but of interest nevertheless - School for Thought has just gone over the 2,000,000 hits mark. Thanks for reading.

Today’s video is an impassioned plea from the governor of Louisiana last week to a legislative committee considering three landmark education reform bills. It’s worth watching, because it reminds us (if we had forgotten) how high the stakes are. The bills in question are progressing rapidly through the Louisiana legislature, and it looks as if they will all be successful. More here, including information about the inevitable teacher union opposition. YouTube link

Unrelated to today’s blog:  contratulations for going over the 2 million mark in blog hits.  I believe that you’re largely responsible for the shift we’re beginning to see in education:  when people are informed, they are able to make good decisions.  Personally, I want nothing more than to see young people from all walks of life given the gift of a well-trained mind, in other words, an excellent education!
Thank you and God bless all of you at SQE for your relentless pursuit, even, so to speak,  during some pretty dark days.  Some time down the road children will begin reaping the benefits of yours and many others’ tireless efforts.
We’ll have to keep our fingers crossed that legislation will be passed in Louisiana which will be in the children’s favour grin
