I’ve got a little list

June 13, 2012 by .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) at 05:39 AM

Mr. Wainscotting thinks I hate the teachers’ unions more than the other education perps. But that’s not exactly true.

As some day it may happen that a victim must be found,
I’ve got a little list — I’ve got a little list
Of education offenders who might well be underground,
And who never would be missed — who never would be missed!
There’s the faculties of education who corrupt prospective teachers —
The ministry of education that leads us down the garden path —
The EQAO that makes bad tests, the school boards that interfere —
The textbook publishers that churn out lots of junk —
And the OCT that ensures bad teachers are still here —
They’d none of ‘em be missed — they’d none of ‘em be missed!

Alas, not quite iambic pentameter.

Malkin,

You do not get it….. No where in your rhyme do you make accountable the real power brokers…. the people   who control the millions of dollars locally…............  the school board and the principals….............

I cannot do what I want to do if the $$$ that lands in my science department is 30% less than 10 years ago…...........

Yup more edu spending provincially but much less at class level…..... that is not bad teachers or evil unions .....that is poor poiticians and even poorer edu advocates and it is absolutely parents not paying attention

The school boards are there, but not the principals. The principals aren’t on my list. Should they be? Convince me.

Malkin,

I need to convince you?  Very imperious…. is not advocacy a team sport?

Smart people advocating *any* cause follow the money….You have not…..

Your blog as well intentioned as it may be has serious miopia —->  follow the money and then follow how the local feudal lords spend it.  Teachers are the serfs—the bulk well intentioned and motivated—- the local lords determine the outcomes.  Follow the money!  How many members of this blog are/have been school council members?  How many have seen a school budget?  THEY SHOULD !!!!  FOLLOW THE MONEY and then you will see why principals are the key to good (faint hope- excellent) education!

follow the money———does it support outcomes
