Figures of Speech

March 14, 2013 by .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) at 08:13 AM

A blogger, Blazing Cat Fur, has received a visit from the police after using what he calls a "rhetorical flourish" in one of his posts.  Apparently, the Toronto District School Board has either a really  thin skin or missed the English class on figures of speech.   Sun columnist Joe Warmington writes about it here.

The Tedious Board is a good place to look for comic relief. A week doesn’t go pass without the Tedious Board providing laugh relief from their antics.

In the Sun article - ““The TDSB has long been a target of this blog, and evidently is not a favourite of the thin-skinned, politically correct twits who run that radical leftist cesspit,” he wrote. “My efforts have been responsible for publicly embarrassing the TDSB on several occasions, starting with the Mosqueteria, their teaching that only whites are racist, their homage to Che Guevara and of course their advocacy of Veggie Sex for children. These posts have brought deserved public scorn upon the TDSB and their sting increased manifold when major media outlets picked up the stories.”

The good news the Tedious Board must have staff for the job of combing the web for would be critics of the Tedious Board, looking to cracked down on those who dare to criticized their operations. Its so much fun to mocked the Tedious Board, but on a serious note - the lasting damage caused by the antics of the Tedious Board and as well as their policies places an odious burden on other school boards that must deal with the fallout of the actions of the Tedious Board in Toronto. After all, Toronto is the provincial capital, and should act accordingly by setting the example and standards for other school boards.

Perhaps the bloggers and others who criticized the public education system and rightfully so, could used a bit of help from parents. A new tactic from a set of parents in Newfoundland should be used across the country, when school boards pulled their antics and their usual authoritative stances that prevents parents and critics alike to have a place at the table of the school board, but does everything possible to prevent two-way communication. It sure comes in handy for the school boards when they want to sic the police on the critics and for the wayward parents whose kids draw guns in their pictures at school, and incorrect images that have been banned. One can only imagine, what would happened if a student drew the image of ‘God’ - all hell would break loose, I dare say.

“Parents in St. Lunaire-Griquet are blocking teachers from entering Bayview Regional Collegiate, in a protest over a Western School Board decision to close one of two schools in the community and bus the older students to St. Anthony. “

Its the second day into blocking the teachers from entering the school, and the school board remains silent or are they twisting their hands in private trying to figure out a way without speaking to the parents. Let no one question the authority of a school board - now call the police and get them arrested.

The teachers go willingly home, and they still get paid for their troubles. On Blazing Cat, the readers comments and the blogger’s list called - “The TDSB Depths Of Depravity Review!” and what a person learns. I really shook my head, when it came to correcting the bum rap that Communism have. No wonder its really difficult to educate our children to insert their rights under the Charter, when the students are being taught rights according to the authority of the state.

Instead of having the police knocking on the doors of would be critics of the Tedious Boards, the bloggers; perhaps the parents could just blocked the teachers from entering the schools. until the school board officials come to the school(s) to hear what the parents have to say or meet their demands with full press media their present to record for prosperity and democracy?  The parents without mocking and full of rhetoric, could proceed to tell the Tedious Board why with supporting evidence why the Black Panthers and for that matter Communism should not be portrayed as a harmless social justice group and   benevolent non-totalitarian democratic “communist” state respectively.

The reason why the Newfoundland parents are doing what they are doing, is because they want the attention of the school board who refuses to talk to them. The Tedious Board along with the other school boards would rather slapped parents and tell them to shut-up than to talk to them, and debate the issues. Instead they sic the cops on those who dare to criticized their ideologies and ethics.

“The Tedious Board must have staff for the job of combing the web for would be critics” You hit the nail on the head. Most boards now have trolls lurking on social media etc..to counteract what they see as negative perceptions of school policies/actions Orwell was right all along (See: 1984)

If one said that, “someone should go in there and kick butt”, I think that most people would understand that it was meant as a figure of speech and not literally.

I believe it is what the blogger meant by his comment and that’s what the police believed too.
