Everyone is out of step but my son John

In the US, the number of charter schools continues to increase. This report shows that there were more than 6,000 charter schools in 2012-2013, and probably another 600 were added last year. Furthermore, there are no signs that the approximately 7% per year increase will slow down any time soon.

Many other countries have charter-type schools, including Chile, New Zealand, England and Wales, Norway, and Sweden. more

Meanwhile, back at the ranch in Canada, we have exactly 13 charter schools, all of them in Alberta - a number that has remained unchanged for some time.

Given that charter schools are free public schools - free in every sense of the word - that are more effective than conventional public schools and increasingly popular with parents, what are we waiting for?  H/T TB
