Disrupting education cartels everywhere

January 06, 2016 by .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) at 07:52 AM

I have just published two companion blogs on Huffington Post.

The first blog looks at the delivery structure of Ontario publicly-funded education and concludes that it is controlled by a very powerful cartel. That's the bad news. The good news is that no cartel lasts forever, and so the second blog looks at how new technological developments promise to disrupt education cartels and make possible better and more convenient service at a more reasonable cost.

I would be grateful if you would forward these blogs to interested parties, as I am hoping they - especially the second one - will start the wheels turning in some entrepreneurs' brains.

Government-run monopolies are what are ruining Ontario.

They and the politicians government employees place in power don’t look at the bigger picture—they ignore the fact that Ontario’s tax base, under their mismanagement, will continue to erode; also Ontario’s credit rating will be repeatedly downgraded because of the government’s lack of willingness to get their huge debt under control.

Rather than manage the province properly the Liberal government prefers to give public servants raises with money they don’t even have, because presently this is the only way to keep public servants happy.

Premier Kathleen Wynne has a good chance of being re-elected because she has decided to buy public servants’ votes with taxpayers’ $$—never mind that her government doesn’t have any money for these raises.  By borrowing to do this she not only taking money out of the tax payers’ pockets to buy elections, but she borrowing $$ from future generations (our grandchildren).

If this insanity continues, it won’t be a matter of if, but when our province goes bankrupt.  What will happen to these cushy government jobs with their gold-plated salaries, benefits and pensions when the province goes bankrupt?

If government employees would look at the bigger picture and realize that less greed would benefit them in the long run, we’d all be much better off…

Ontario’s government institutions because of their enormous power have become morally and ethically corrupt—a prime example is their blatant refusal to offer Ontario’s children an education, period.  They don’t give a damn about the kids.
