Community Schools

August 15, 2015 by .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) at 08:40 AM

A new concept called "community schools" has taken root in Florida. Community schools "address the barriers to student success in high-risk neighbourhoods" by providing free after-school programs, tutoring, medial and dental care, and counselling. more

Unfortunately, the article doesn't say where the funding for the extra programs comes from, but presumably the money was just coming from different government pockets before. The "community schools" concept is reminiscent of the Perry Preschool Project that worked so well in the sixties (although it involved preschoolers).

Sounds like a good idea.

Of course any choice would be a good idea to parents in Canada.
