It is the best of times, it is the worst of times. It is with bittersweet emotions that I write my last School for Thought blog. We began our blog on May 29, 2009 and have been going almost continuously since then - that's more than seven years if you're counting. So I think we have had a very good run.

I want to thank all of our faithful readers over the years, especially those who sent in reader tips. I couldn't have done it without you.

But nothing lasts forever, and now SQE is rebranding. Its new website will be launched tomorrow - be sure to visit it at www.sqecanada.org.

And please keep on pressing for education reform. It's important.

And thank you, Malkin, for your dedication to holding this space open for contributions. I will look forward to aeeing the new site.

Your final post comes on the same day that I am announcing the re-launch of VoicEd.ca, an attempt to gather the diversity of perspectives on Canadian education in some important dialogue.

This is an important time in our Canadian society and those of us committed to public education need to have places for discussion, debate and dreaming. We may not always agree, but the conversation is important—-it will always be important!

Thank you for what you have done here to foster that conversation.

Malkin,

Got to be 30 years since I first encountered your passion for education reform

Through electing local reform trustees; to leading annual conferences; to becoming a national voice for reform; to actively helping any parent in need regardless of background.  I haven’t seen much wavering in 3 decades in principle or passion.

And I am sure, you will not go quietly.

Happy Retirement and Grandmotherhood !

Dear Malkin,

You aren`t leaving,just leaving the daily blog…

You have provided me with a tremendous education.
Good luck and temper your passion with a little more fun!
Thank You for everything you did and do.

Thanks Malkin:

It’s a hard nut to crack.  The education field is a study onto itself.  No other human endeavor is so full of paradox, contradictions and downright absurdities.  Malkin has tried, through the blog, her book, her advice and mainly from sleuthing to stay on top of this slippery field.

We have gained much by way of insight from the steady pursuit for answers to education’s riddles.

Thanks, Malkin, for all your devotion and the occasional brilliant discoveries.  Hopefully, there will be some continuity to your ongoing mission.  Hopefully, we shall still have access to the archives of the blog as it is a treasure indeed.

Best wishes, Tunya.

I’d also like to send my thanks to you Malkin. Through the years when my children were in school and I was a struggling parent reformer , you came to my aid with info and support numerous times. It was all much appreciated. I hope you enjoy this next chapter of you life.
