This story from Australia shows that the anti-phonics police are in control in the upside-down part of the world as well and, even worse for Australia, they're still at the whole language stage with balanced literacy still to come - more years of agony in store.  H/T TA

I'm not sure what to think about this article on the increasing use of video games as part of the curriculum for all grades, even grade 1. Your views?  H/T LDA

Click here to watch Doretta in action, this time on the Brian Lilley show talking about 24/7 junior kindergarten and Ontario's declining math scores.

The JUMP math teaching program, developed in Canada by John Mighton and disparaged by most of the Canadian math establishment, is being piloted in Ireland - the usual story of a prophet without honour in his home country....  H/T  DW

Watched you on Sun News, Doretta.  Well done!  You’re so comfortable with the facts that you come across very clearly; plus unlike our politicians, you’re not trying to whitewash anything—you’re just telling the truth.  Glad that some of the media are paying attention and reporting some of the dire problems our educational system is presenting us with.  Lousy, ineffectual math curriculum, that children can’t learn from is only one of the problems.  Educrats falsely or deliberately cherry picking facts in order to misinform the public (all of which is propaganda) is another huge issue we are facing us nowadays with our Ontario government.
